Rachel Becker (Poetry, January 2025) has three new poems out: “Vanity, Greed, Extravagance, Death” in Rust & Moth; “In January” in Barely South Review; and “Fireworks” in North American Review.

Jasminne Paulino (WFYP, June 2023) has her debut novel-in-verse, The Extraordinary Orbit of Alex Ramirez, published by Penguin Random House, now available for preorder. The book is reviewed in Diario Libre USA: “El Extraordinario Orbitar de Alex Ramírez”: Una Nueva Página en la Literatura Dominicana.”

Axie Oh (WFYP, June 2017) has a new YA fantasy novel, The Floating World, published by Macmillan. She is interviewed about her book in Publishers Weekly: “AAPI Heritage Month 2025: Q&As with Children’s Authors on Writing About Culture and History.” She also appeared in an interview on The Well-Read Podcast, discussing characters and setting in her books.

Michelle Boland (Poetry, January 2019) has two poems in the 2025 issue of Clackamas Literary Review: “When My Lover Called Me Artist, I Thought of Moths” and “Nature Journal.”

Robbie Gamble (Poetry, January 2017; Nonfiction, June 2020) has two poems out: “Spectrum” in Psaltery & Lyre and “Tioga County, PA” in the anthology Keystone Poetry: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania. He also has a flash essay “Guernica” in the current issue of Consequence.

Cindy House (Fiction, June 2017) has a memoir piece “Chipmunk” in the May 2025 issue of Split Lip.

Jasmine Warga (WFYP, June 2013) has a new middle-grade novel, The Unlikely Tale of Chase & Finnegan, forthcoming from Macmillan in March 2026.

Andrea Wang (WFYP, June 2011) has a forthcoming picture book, Worthy: the Brave and Capable Life of Joseph Pierce, now available for preorder. She has an interview with her illustrator, Youa Vang, in Picture Book Builders.

Deborah Sosin (Nonfiction, January 2015) has ten 70-word excerpts from her memoir project This is 70: a Life in Micro-Memoirs, appearing in Oldster Magazine.

D. Dina Friedman (Fiction, January 2016) has two new poems out: “Penumbra” in Lumina, and “Poem Set in the Present Moment Featuring My Mother’s Voice” in Second Coming.

Kevin Prufer (Poetry, MFA Faculty) will be the 2026 Texas State Poet Laureate.

Kate Fussner’s (WFYP, June 2021) middle-grade novel, 13 Ways to Say Goodbye, was included in the listing ” 25 Middle Grade Titles for Pride Month and Beyond” in School Library Journal.

Boston Gordon (Poetry, January 2015) has a new poetry collection, Loose Bricks, available from Small Harbor Publishing.

Our WFYP faculty continue to shine as Jason Reynolds and Michelle Knudsen have both won 2025 Book of the Year awards from the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association. Reynolds won in Young Adult Literature for Twenty-four Seconds from Now… and Knudsen in Picture Book for Luigi, the Spider Who Wanted to Be a Kitten.

Boston Gordon (Poetry, January 2015) interviews fellow poet July Westhale (June 2013) about July’s latest poetry book, moon moon, for The Common. July was also interviewed by Poets & Writers in “Ten Questions for July Westhale.”

Hayley Krischer (Fiction, June 2009) spoke about the power and peril of the wellness world as described in her latest novel, You Belong to Me, on the A Little Bit Culty podcast.

“We Have a Lion in the Library,” one of the songs from the musical play adaptation of Michelle Knudsen’s (WFYP, MFA Writing Faculty) picture book, Library Lion, is now available to purchase and download.

Lyz Lenz (Fiction, June 2011) makes a guest appearance on the Past Due podcast to talk about what it takes to survive the creative economy.

Celeste Mohammed’s (Fiction, June 2016) opinion piece, “Time to invest in T&T’s creative future,” appears in Trinidad Express.

An article about the production of Sharisse Zeroonian’s (WSS, January 2024) current project, Nothing Solid, a semi-autobiographical film about cyclic vomiting syndrome, appears in Wicked Local.

Resources & Opportunities

  • Applications are open for the genesis retreat. This 7-day, 6-night creativity and writing retreat will be held in Queens College, Oxford from September 8-14th. They are open to writers of adult fiction, children’s/YA, nonfiction/memoir, creative nonfiction. WFYP MFA Faculty Michelle Knudsen will be on the faculty, and is happy to answer questions at michelle.knudsen@gmail.com.
  • The Associates of the Boston Public Library‘s Writer-in-Residence program is now open to submissions from authors looking for financial assistance completing one literary work for children or young adults. It will run from October 2025 through September 2026. Applications are open until June 6th.
