Cassie M. Seinuk (WSS, June 2013): City Theatre has selected her play Hostage: Not a Play About Betta Fish as a 2025 Finalist in the annual City Theatre’s Susan J. Westfall National Award for Short Playwriting contest. It will receive a professional reading around Miami. Her short play, “The End,” was also published in the June 2025 issue of Mini Plays Review.

Jason Reynolds (WFYP, MFA faculty) appears on the NPR podcast Wild Card with Rachel Martin, in the episode “Jason Reynolds loves being a ‘crybaby.'”

Rachel B. Moore (Fiction, June 2012) was named the 2025 Sara Patton Recipient in nonfiction for her in-progress essay collection, How to Love A City. The Sara Patton stipend was awarded at this June’s TWH Maine All-Genre “Mini MFA” 2025 Conference in Phippsburg, Maine.

Suzanne E. Edison’s (Poetry, July 2016) chapbook manuscript All Night I Wrestle is a semifinalist in the 2025 Wolfson Press Poetry Chapbook Contest.

Deborah Sosin (Nonfiction, January 2016) has two new pieces in her Substack, Write Like It Is: “Death by Coffee: Hanging Out with David Sedaris” and “On the Road: Europe 1985.” She also has the nonfiction micro piece “Bosom Buddies” from her forthcoming collection This is 70, now appearing in Short Reads.

Kevin Prufer’s (Poetry, MFA faculty) novel Sleepaway is the bronze winner in the Forward Reviews 2024 Adult Fiction category.

Mary Ann Honaker (Poetry, June 2016) won multiple awards in this year’s West Virginia Writers competition. “Snowglobe” took second place in short poetry, “Cold Rain” took third place in long poetry, and “Our Country Is Dying” was an honorable mention in long poetry.

Robbie Gamble (Poetry, January 2017 and Nonfiction June 2020) has an essay “How to Knit a Trans-Solidarity Scarf” in the Pride issue of Boudin, the online arm of the McNeese Review. He also has three new poems out: “To a Favorite Aunt” in Lily Poetry Review; “Habeas Corpus” in The Second Coming Project; and “Oracular” in Tiny Spoon.
