Mariya Taher (Fiction, June 2016) has two recent op-ed pieces out: “When Protecting Girls Is Twisted Into Attacking Trans Youth: FGM/C Survivors Fight Back Against Transphobic Right-Wing Narratives” in Ms. Magazine, and “Opinion: CT needs to ban female genital mutilation/cutting” in the New Haven Register.
Michelle Boland (Poetry, June 2019) has a poem “Apple Maggot” in the Winter 2024 issue of Solstice Literary Magazine.
Fabiola R. Decius (WSS, June 2015) received a 2024 Lesley University Alumni Award – the Joseph Moore Award for Dedication to the Profession for her work with “Boston Public Schools Art Department to founding Teens WRITE (Writing, Reading, and Investigating Theater Everywhere) and creating original plays for young audiences” (Sarah Sherman, Director of Alumni Networking at Lesley University).
Steven Cramer (Poetry, MFA faculty) has a portfolio of four poems in the December 2024 issue of Plume: “Where Thoughts Come From,” “At the Green Fern Tavern,” “The Invisible Gorilla,” and “Blood Work.”
Jody Hobbs Hesler’s (Fiction, June 2017) novel Without You Here was a finalist for the Southern Literary Review 2024 Book of the Year.
Robbie Gamble (Nonfiction, June 2020) has a flash CNF piece “Pastoral” in the Fall/Winter 2024 issue of A Portrait of New England.
Sara Levine (WFYP, January 2006) has a new book Watching and Waiting: What Hatches from Nature’s Nurseries to be published by Millbrook Press in April 2025, now available for preorder. Also, her picture book A Terrible Place for a Nest was listed as one of the Best Kids’ Books on Mental Health of 2024 by the Child Mind Institute.
Dan Carey (Poetry, June 2021) has a poem “Before You Begin” in the Fall 2024 issue of The Heartland Review.

- David Elliott, emeritus faculty for the Writing for Young People genre, is conducting a writing retreatfocused on retellings May 2025 in Greece. Participants will stay in a beachfront hotel in a village on the island of Evia, visit ancient sites as inspiration for workshops, and then participate in seminars and workshops meant to generate new work as the writers hone their craft.
