Sara Levine (Nonfiction/WFYP, January 2006) has two new picture books, How We Fly and Talking to Worms, now available for pre-order. Also, her picture book A Terrible Place for a Nest, was nominated for the Arkansas Diamond Primary Award.
Robbie Gamble (Poetry/Nonfiction, January 2017/June 2020) had a busy July. His poem “Semiquincentennial Eve” appeared in the Second Coming Poem-a-Day Series. Broken Lens Journal published his poem “Living on the Beaufort Scale,” while “Span” was featured in issue #2 of Accent. “Clarence in a Rickshaw” appeared in the inaugural issue of Coastlines Review. Finally, his haiku “against war” received an honorable mention for the 2026 Confluence Prize.
Amber Wong (Nonfiction, January 2014) is the recipient of the 2026 Aurora Polaris Award in Creative Nonfiction from Trio House Press, for her forthcoming memoir The Hierarchy of Soup.
Kent Neal (Poetry, January 2023) has a poem “State v. Start” in the 52.2 Spring/Summer 2026 issue of Black Warrior Review.
Stephanie Willing’s (WFYP, June 2017) forthcoming middle school novel She Came Back Different is now a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection.
Cynthia Platt (WFYP, June 2014 & Mentor) has a new picture book Santa in Disguise now available for pre-order.
Michelle Knudsen (WFYP, Mentor) is joining the faculty of University of San Francisco MFA in Writing for Young Readers where she will be teaching alongside former Lesley WFYP mentor Tracey Baptiste, and WFYP alum Candice Iloh.
Graham Jones’s (WFYP, June 2024) new picture book, How Ruffles Got Their Ridges, has been acquired by Little, Brown Books for Young Reader. The book is slated for release in Summer 2027.
The poem “Dog Days,” by KB Ballentine (Poetry, June 2007) is published in the Spring 2026 edition of Remington Review. KB also published “Shatter the Blue” in As It Ought to Be Magazine.
Playwright Patricia Lynn (WSS, June 2023) discusses her new play Gas Light Therapy in an interview on Medium. Catch a staged reading of the play at Rogue Theater Festival in NYC.
Late Fall, starring Kyle Gregory (WSS, January 2019), is headed to the Lonely Seal International Film, Screenplay & Music Festival, August 27–30 at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA. This film recently won the Shawna Shea Spirit Award at the 2026 Shawna Shea Film Festival.

- Bonita Lee Penn (Poetry, January 2015) is offering a series of poetry workshops on Mondays from August 31 – November 30 on campus at Carlow University. The workshops will explore how “poets use language and craft, including imagery, sound, rhythm, form, meter, and revision to shape powerful and evocative work.” Space is limited.
