SUMMARY:The Art of Alchemy: Yoga\, Poetry & Creative Sustainability with Lindsey O’Neill
DESCRIPTION:Lindsey O’Neill (Poetry\, June 2019) will host The Art of Alchemy: Yoga\, Poetry & Creative Sustainability. \n\n\n\nIn a world that often pulls us away from the sacred in everyday life\, how can yoga\, self-care\, and poetry transform our inner experiences into living art? How can we turn the tension between heart and mind into clarity\, connection\, and creative expression? \n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, your body becomes a vessel\, your breath a guide\, and poetry a doorway. Through a slow-flow vinyasa practice paired with creative writing\, you’ll explore the fullness of your own experience\, uncover the sacredness woven into daily life\, and translate it into authentic\, expressive art. \n\n\n\nBy the end\, you’ll have cultivated a stronger connection to your own voice\, drafted new poems\, and developed self-care practices to sustain a lifelong dialogue between your yoga\, your words\, and your world. \n\n\n\nWear clothing you can move in. Please bring a notebook\, writing utensil & yoga mat (mats are available to rent in the studio for $3)

SUMMARY:Abbie Harlow Book Signing at Books Inc.
DESCRIPTION:Join author Abbie Harlow (WFYP\, June 2019) at Books Inc. in Alameda to read and sign copies of her first novel\, The Butterfly’s Sting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNever again. That’s what seventeen-year-old Bo Clark has promised her two younger siblings ever since they were put in separate foster homes―a situation that nearly turned deadly for her little brother\, and that they have vowed never to repeat. Bo will do anything to keep that promise. Even if it means enduring the abuse of Uncle Jack\, their new guardian. When Jack discovers that Bo has a talent for boxing\, he signs her up for an underground fight club tournament\, which could bring in enough money for her to move out with her siblings as soon as she turns eighteen. \n\n\n\nBut the ring is a brutal place\, and when Bo’s cutman is arrested\, Jack is forced to bring a new one onto the team. Liam turns out to be a schoolmate of Bo’s\, and even as the two of them grow closer\, she worries that he will go to the authorities if he ever finds out Jack is hurting her. \n\n\n\nAs Bo makes her way closer to the big prize\, Jack starts to set his sights beyond the tournament\, and in an explosive finale\, the violence moves outside the ring\, putting everything Bo loves at risk.

SUMMARY:East End Books Ptown presents: L Scully "Self-Romancing" in conv. w/ Zac Smith and Madison Murray
DESCRIPTION:Visit East End Books in Provincetown to celebrate the launch of L Scully’s (Nonfiction\, January 2023) poetry collection\, Self-Romancing. L will be in conversation with Zac Smith and Madison Murray. You can also watch the event through the store’s Facebook page. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn a tonal mash-up of Jenny Holzer’s Truisms\, confessional poetry\, and fortune telling\, Self-Romancing draws you into the amorous and obsessive inner life of an unnamed romantic. Relatable and snarky\, heartfelt and horny\, L Scully fortifies irony with vulnerability\, bringing readers into a narrative as intimate as slumber parties and ordinary as Trader Joe’s. Bursting with the giddy charm of the everyday\, Self-Romancing plays with form\, turning a book into a crush\, a crank call\, a manifesto.

SUMMARY:Heat\, Honey\, Smoke - A Sexual Impressionism Workshop with Celeste Mohammed
DESCRIPTION:Here\, in the intimate tradition of the botánica\, where candles cast passionate shadows and smoke coils from brass bowls\, this generative workshop\, led by Celeste Mohammed (Fiction\, June 2016) invites writers to regard the literary sex scene as something more than performance. Wielding pen as brush\, you will apply the techniques of the art world to capture impressions of sensuality that feel emotionally true and spiritually resonant. Here\, sensuality is not a spectacle\, but a residue\, felt in breath\, in pause\, in what’s left unsaid. Writers will experiment with language that conjures rather than declares\, gesture over anatomy\, feeling over form. Together\, you’ll write toward the charged space between the lines–toward the heat\, the honey\, the smoke.
