SUMMARY:Jason Reynolds discusses Twenty-four Seconds from Now...:A LOVE Story
DESCRIPTION:Join Vroman’s Bookstore for this ticketed event with #1 New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds (WFYP\, MFA Writing Faculty) as he discusses his latest book\, Twenty-four Seconds from Now . . . \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n#1 New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds tackles it—you know…it—from the guy’s perspective in this unfiltered and undeniably sweet stream of consciousness story of a teen boy about to experience a huge first. \n\n\n\nTwenty-four months ago: Neon gets chased by a dog all around the parking lot of a church. Not his finest moment. And definitely one he would have loved to forget if it weren’t for the dog’s owner: Aria. Dressed in sweats\, a t-shirt\, hair in a ponytail. Aria. Way more than fine. \n\n\n\nTwenty-four weeks ago: Neon’s dad insists on talking to him about tenderness and intimacy. Neon and Aria are definitely in love\, and while they haven’t taken that next big step…yet\, they’ve starting talking about…that. \n\n\n\nTwenty-four days ago: Neon’s mom finds her—gulp—bra in his room. Hey! No judging! Those hook thingies are complicated! So he’d figured he’d better practice\, what with the big day only a month away. \n\n\n\nTwenty-four minutes ago: Neon leaves his shift at work at his dad’s bingo hall\, making sure to bring some chicken tenders for Aria. They’re not candlelight and they definitely aren’t caviar\, but they are her favorite. \n\n\n\nAnd right this second? Neon is locked in Aria’s bathroom\, completely freaking out because twenty-four seconds from now he and Aria are about to…about to… Well\, they won’t do anything if he can’t get out of his own head (all the advice\, insecurities\, and what ifs) and out of this bathroom! \n\n\n\nNote: the subject matter of this book contains PG-13 material and is not recommended for the youngest of readers. \n\n\n\n**All tickets include a signed copy of Twenty-Four Seconds from Now . . .: A LOVE Story as well as admittance to the meet and greet line for a photo with Jason.

SUMMARY:Author Study with Kwame Alexander and special guest Jason Reynolds
DESCRIPTION:During this 45-minute virtual author visit\, Kwame teams up with his friend Jason Reynolds (WFYP\, MFA Writing Faculty) to teach young readers and writers about generating ideas in writing – and more. \n\n\n\nStudents will hear Kwame read from his new book\, Black Star\, then learn a strategy for idea generation in a brief writing craft lesson. Kwame then turns to award-winning\, highly acclaimed author Jason Reynolds for a conversation about his creative process as an author\, poet and podcaster. Students will hear Jason and Kwame discuss where their ideas come from\, how they know when it’s time to pursue a writing idea (and when to walk away)\, and other tidbits kids can apply to their own writing practice. \n\n\n\nThis livestreamed author visit wraps with a live Q&A session\, in which Kwame answers select questions from the webinar chat. This Author Study event is recommended for upper-elementary\, middle\, and high school students who may be more familiar with Jason’s work – but students of all ages and grade levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nThis event will run 45 minutes (1:00 -1:45pm ET / 10:00 – 10:45am PT) and will include an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. In order to give participants a unique and more personalized experience\, space for this virtual livestream event is limited.
