Her picture book Watercress was awarded the Caldecott Medal\, a Newbery Honor\, the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature\, a New England Book Award and a Boston Globe—Horn Book Honor\, among others. She is also the author of Luli and the Language of Tea\, The Many Meanings of Meilan\, Magic Ramen: The Story of Momofuku Ando\, and The Nian Monster. These books have each received starred reviews\, awards\, and honors\, as well as appearing on multiple state library book lists. Andrea received her MFA in Creative Writing for Young People from Lesley in 2011.  \n\n\n\nPresentations are free and open to all. Fennell board chair for Latinx in Publishing as well as on the Advisory Board of People of Color in Publishing. She lives in the Bronx with her husband\, family and black poodle\, Oreo. DESCRIPTION:This class will focus on focused revision at the level of language. It’s not about plot or form or structure\, but rather about the constituent elements that make up sentences or lines. Students will be offered tactics to employ in the service of sharpening their prose or poems\, in strengthening their syntax\, and in surprising their readers (and themselves!)
