CATE Connects: Igniting Inspiration with Rose Viña

Join this virtual gathering of creativity, collaboration, and connection designed to ignite your inspiration and spark new ideas. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out, there’s something here for everyone.

Award-winning childrens’ book author Rose Viña (WFYP, January 2016) will guide the session, offering strategies, book titles, and resources to all participants.

Rose Viña is a Cuban American writer from California. She is the recipient of an MFA in creative writing. Her debut book, Ice Breaker: How Mabel Fairbanks Changed Figure Skating, was named an American Library Association 2021 Rise Honor book and a SCBWI 2020 Crystal Kite Award finalist. Her 2nd book, Alicia Alonso Dances On, received starred reviews from the School Library Journal and appeared on MSNBC’s 2022 book list for Women’s History Month. She was a competitive and professional figure skater for more than 20 years. Rose currently lives in Sweden with her family.

Co-Sponsored by Southland Council of Teachers of English (SCTE) and Capitol Council of Teachers of English. All ticket proceeds help teachers attend the annual CATE convention through a special CATE Connects scholarship.
