An Author Event with Suzanne Cope at The Hound Books

July 10, 2025 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm EST

Join The Hound Books for an author event with narrative journalist Suzanne Cope (Nonfiction, 2007) as she discusses Women of War, the gripping, true, and untold story of the Italian women’s resistance during World War II. In early September 1943, Italy surrendered to the Allies. But the Nazis were prepared and quickly took over the country, aided by Italian Fascist loyalists. Grassroots resistance fighters began organizing immediately, and Italian women were integral to their efforts, serving as underground soliders, intrepid spies, cunning saboteurs, and much more. Using primary sources and brand new scholarship, historian Suzanne Cope unearths the hidden history of the brave women who risked their lives to liberate Italy.

Suzanne Cope is a scholar and narrative journalist, and is the author of Power Hungry: Women of the Black Panther Party and Freedom Summer and Their Fight to Feed a Movement. Her work on themes of political and social change, feminism, food, and culture has appeared in The New York TimesThe Atlantic, Los Angeles Review of BooksFood & Wine, BBC, Washington PostAeon, and others.
