Author Study with Kwame Alexander and special guest Jason Reynolds

October 29 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm EST

During this 45-minute virtual author visit, Kwame teams up with his friend Jason Reynolds (WFYP, MFA Writing Faculty) to teach young readers and writers about generating ideas in writing – and more.

Students will hear Kwame read from his new book, Black Star, then learn a strategy for idea generation in a brief writing craft lesson. Kwame then turns to award-winning, highly acclaimed author Jason Reynolds for a conversation about his creative process as an author, poet and podcaster. Students will hear Jason and Kwame discuss where their ideas come from, how they know when it’s time to pursue a writing idea (and when to walk away), and other tidbits kids can apply to their own writing practice.

This livestreamed author visit wraps with a live Q&A session, in which Kwame answers select questions from the webinar chat. This Author Study event is recommended for upper-elementary, middle, and high school students who may be more familiar with Jason’s work – but students of all ages and grade levels are welcome.

This event will run 45 minutes (1:00 -1:45pm ET / 10:00 – 10:45am PT) and will include an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. In order to give participants a unique and more personalized experience, space for this virtual livestream event is limited.

$200 – $375 Price may vary depending on type of classroom registration.
