Amy Grier (Nonfiction, January 2017) has a review of Lesley nonfiction faculty member Pamela Petro’s memoir The Long Field in Another Chicago Magazine.

Robbie Gamble (Poetry, January 2017) had a couple of poems published this month: “November” in The Inflectionist Review, and “Ode to Compost” in Gyroscope Review, as well as three poems in the Lyrical Somerville column of The Somerville Times. His essay “Marta” was republished in Spanish translation in the Columbian journal Revista Corónica.

Erin Belieu (Poetry, MFA faculty) has a poem “Late Autumnal, With Cockroach” in the July/August 2024 issue of Poetry.

Cynthia Platt (WFYP, June 2014) has a new picture book Happy Halloween, Teal Pumpkin! from Clarion Books. She is also interviewed about her work as a writer, teacher, and editor in CanvasRebel.

Hayley Krischer (Fiction, June 2009) has an article in People magazine: “I Wrote a Novel About a Real Celebrity — And She ‘Can’t Wait to Read It’ (Exclusive)” where she discusses her process for writing Where Are You, Echo Blue?

Michael Mercurio (Poetry, January 2017) has a poem “Something Dark, Turning” in issue 48.1 of Cream City Review.

Jody Hobbs Hesler (Fiction, June 2017) has a short story “Scare the Shit Out of Everybody” in the Summer 2024 issue of Little Patuxent Review. You can see her reading from the story here.

Kate Kearns’s (Poetry, June 2008) poem “No One Taught Us Lifelong Love” is feaured and reviewed in the Portland Press Herald.

Jasmine Warga’s (WFYP, June 2013) middle-school novel A Strange THing Happened in Cherry Hall received a starred review in Kirkus. It will be published in September 2024.

Jami Brandli’s (WSS, MFA faculty) play The Magician’s Sister is a finalist at the 2024 Ojai Playwrights Conference. Also, her TV script Amazing Grace of New Jersey was listed as one of the top-rated Family Television projects for the month of July by Coverfly.

Ella Alkiewicz (Nonfiction, June 2018) was featured in an article in MassLive about her painting series.

Eve F.W. Linn (Poetry, January 2013) has a debut poetry collection Album of Not, now available from Nixes Mate.

Michelle Boland (Poetry, January 2019) has a poem “Where the Children Play” in Pangyrus.

Jason Reynolds’s (WYFP, MFA faculty) YA novel Twenty-four Seconds from Now… has received a starred review from Publishers Weekly.

D. Dina Friedman (Fiction, January 2016) has two new poems out: “The Dead” in the Summer 2024 issue of humana obscura, and “”Please Don’t Tell Me About Your Dreams” in New Feathers Anthology.

Suzanne Edison (Poetry, June 2016) has a poem “Spells and Prayers Before Antimatter” featured in Mom Egg Review.

Bonita Lee Penn (Poetry, January 2015) is featured in an article “Bonita Lee Penn Seeks To Connect Her History, Culture And Beliefs To Who She Is Today” in NewsOne.

Kevin Prufer’s (Poetry, MFA faculty) poetry collection The Fears has won the 2024 UNT Rilke Prize, It is also a finalist for the 2023 Julie Suk award from Jacar Press.

Thato Mwosa (WSS, June 2017) has been selected to participate in Meryl Streep’s The Writer’s Lab, a program dedicated to elevating the work of women and non-binary screenwriters over the age of 40, this November. She will be bringing her script, Rati, a coming-of-age drama set in Botswana.

Sara Levine’s (Nonfiction/WFYP, January 2006) latest picture book, A Terrible Place for a Nest, celebrated its publishing day on July 30th.

Tracey Baptiste (WFYP, MFA Writing Faculty) has created a guide to affordable school visits, which is available on her website.

Gnashing Teeth Publishing is hosting an open reading period for an upcoming anthology of trans-identifying writers for release in June 2025, guest edited by L Scully (Nonfiction, January 2023). The reading period ends on August 15th.
